Joseph Eugene Roberts, 78, of Williamsburg

Joseph Eugene Roberts (Bucktrout Funeral Home)

Joseph “Joe” Eugene Roberts — lovingly known as “Pappy” to his grandchildren — passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, just five days shy of his 79th birthday. Though his time on this earth ended too soon, his life was full of love, laughter, and kindness that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Joe was born in Seebert, West Virginia, and throughout his life, he carried with him the grounded, good-hearted nature of his roots. His journey took him to many places — Maryland, St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Florida, and Virginia — each one enriched by his warmth, his humor, and his quiet generosity. Joe had an open heart and a way of making everyone feel welcome, whether you were a lifelong friend or someone he had just met.

For more than 30 years, Joe built a respected career as a State Farm Insurance Agent in Perry Hall, Maryland. To his colleagues and clients, he was more than a professional — he was a trusted friend and someone who truly cared. His honesty, dependability, and compassion made him not only successful in business but deeply admired and loved in his community.

At the center of Joe’s life was his family, the source of his greatest pride and joy. He is survived by his devoted spouse of 45 years and husband of 14 years, Joseph Kohoskie, his loving daughter Laura Ricafort, son-in-law Larry Ricafort, his son Adam Roberts, daughter-in-law Stacey Roberts, and his beloved grandchildren Harlan, Leah, and Logan — who affectionately called him “Pappy.” They were the lights of his life, and his love for them was endless and unconditional. He celebrated every milestone, offered gentle advice, and filled their lives with laughter, stories, and unwavering support.

Joe had a gift for seeing the best in people. He listened deeply, loved freely, and lived with an open heart. His easy smile, sense of humor, and calm presence made others feel safe and understood. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures — a good conversation, a quiet afternoon, a meal shared with loved ones, or a sunset that reminded him how beautiful the world could be.

Those who knew Joe will remember him as a man of kindness, strength, and integrity — someone who showed up for others without hesitation and whose love left a lasting imprint on every heart he touched. Though his absence leaves an ache that words cannot fill, his spirit continues to live on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the stories shared among family and friends, and the love that binds them all together.

A private celebration of Joe’s life will be held with family and close friends. His family invites those who knew and loved him to share memories, stories, and photos on this page so that his light can continue to shine through the lives he touched.

Joe’s legacy is one of love — simple, steadfast, and true. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
