Christine Doyle Janke, aged 80, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Born on October 4, 1944, in Washington D.C., she lived a life rich in love, creativity, and dedication.
Christine was an accomplished and award-winning interior designer, whose artistic flair extended beyond her professional life into her personal passions. She was known for painting religious icons and collecting antique silver, pursuits that reflected her appreciation for beauty and history.
She was a devoted member of the Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church, where her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. Her commitment to her community and her church was evident in her actions and the warmth she extended to all who knew her.
Christine’s educational journey included her time at Georgetown Visitation College, where she graduated. Her career as Lead Monitor at the Williamsburg Foundation showcased her leadership skills and her dedication to preserving the cultural heritage of her beloved community.
Above all, Christine cherished her family. She leaves behind her loving husband, Frank H. Janke III, and their cherished sons: Frank IV, his son Oliver, and his mother Katrina; Matthew and his wife Andrea, together with their children Aidan, Lleyton, Lillie, and Harrison; and her son Charlie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Adele Doyle, who undoubtedly welcomed her into eternal rest.
A celebration of Christine’s life will be held on August 16, 2025, at 10 AM at the Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church, located at 144 Place Lane, Williamsburg, VA, 23185. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Christine are invited to join in remembering and honoring a remarkable woman who filled the world with light and love.
In this time of loss, we find solace in the beautiful memories she has left behind and the enduring legacy of kindness and artistry she bestowed upon us. Christine’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
