Zenaida Macaraeg, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, in Newport News at the age of 76.
Born on December 18, 1948, in the Philippines, she was the cherished daughter of the late Antonio Trinidad Sr. and Justina Trinidad and sister of the late Leonardo Trinidad Sr., Anita Madlangbayan, Teofista Banzon, Eligio Trinidad, Apolonia Javier, and Rodolfo Trinidad.
Zenaida dedicated 30 years of her professional life as a Quality Assurance Inspector for Canon, from which she retired with great respect from her colleagues. Her attention to detail and commitment to excellence were evident in all her endeavors.
A woman of deep faith, Zenaida was a devoted parishioner of St. Jerome Catholic Church, where she found solace and community in her spiritual journey.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Fred Macaraeg; her children, Alfred (Jennifer) Macaraeg and April (Sheena) Macaraeg; and her brother, Antonio Trinidad Jr. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Aiden Christian, Jeremiah Vincent, Ezra Zayn, and Cirilla Jade, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also fondly remembered by her grandpets, Solo Pup, Meeko, and Mila.
Zenaida’s warmth, kindness, and steadfast love will be dearly missed by her extended family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in memory of Zeny.
A viewing will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 12893 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA 23608, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 116 Denbigh Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23608, on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
