Lorenz “Larry” Sershen, 61, of Gloucester

Lorenz “Larry” Sershen (Weymouth Funeral Home & Crematory)

Lorenz “Larry” Sershen, 61, of Gloucester, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025. He was born in Newport News, Virginia and was the son of the late Elisabeth and John Sershen and siblings, Jimmy Sershen and Anna Mohr.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Sershen; siblings, Franz (Erika) Eisele, Edith (Verney) Moore, Eugene Sershen, John (Theresa) Sershen, Joe (Catherine) Sershen; brother-in-law, Michael Mohr and all of his faithful 4-legged friends.

Larry “Pony Man” was an adventure outdoorsman who didn’t know a stranger. Larry and Cathy had a love for animals and what literally brought them together in 1979 via “Misty and Diamond”. They showed horses together, showed Poultry together at the State Fair. They did Pony Rides, Parades and Weddings with the Ponies. But maybe you saw him at the occasional “Horse/Goat/Poultry or Farm Equipment/Tack Sale”. He always made you laugh and loved to tell stories around the campfire. If he wasn’t on his horse, you could find him “gazing” at all his Chickens/Ducks/Turkeys, you name it, he had it. You may find him in his garden so he can share with his friends and family. Maybe on the boat on those hot summer days.

Larry was a member of the Virginia Poultry Association, Virginia Draft, Mule Association and President of the Bethel Horseman’s Association.

He will be truly missed.

Cathy wishes to express her sincere gratitude for all the loving support and prayers from friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to your choice of charity in lieu of flowers.
