Anthony Kilgallon, 75, went home to be with the Lord on November 7, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed. Anthony, or “Tony,” will always be remembered as a family man who loved his family deeply.
Tony was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to the late Charles and Rita Kilgallon. His siblings are Charles Kilgallon, Marita Murphy, and Irene Franco. Tony was always an active member of the local church and served as an altar boy.
In November 1968, Tony enlisted in the Armed Forces and entered the United States Air Force. Tony proudly and honorably served his country for 24 years. During his military career, he started out as a Supply Technician and quickly progressed to a Supply Supervisor. He later was selected for a special duty assignment as a Military Training Instructor where he taught and guided new recruits in the fundamentals of military life during basic training, including physical fitness, discipline, weapon handling, protocol, and overall readiness. Lastly, he served as a Military Recruiter Superintendent for the Tri-State area of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. His duties included finding, engaging, and advising people who want to join the Air Force. He influenced thousands of individuals to join and serve the nation. After retiring from the Air Force, Tony went to work for the Maryland State Judiciary, retiring from this position in 2014.
On June 22, 1968, Tony married his best friend, and the love of his life, Diane Zenicki. Together they shared a passionate romance that lasted 56 years. They were blessed with two children, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Tony is survived by his wife Diane; daughter Lori Davidson and husband, Rodney; son, Anthony Kilgallon Jr. and wife, Shannon; 4 grandchildren, Shanna Thomas and husband, Sean, Robert Allen, Aubree Allen, and Mckenzie Kilgallon; 5 great-grandchildren, Aiden Kimmell, Holden Shaffer, Spencer Shaffer, Nora Thomas, and Mateo Thomas; brother, Charles Kilgallon; 2 sisters, Marita Murphy and husband, Austin, and Irene Franco, as well as several nieces and nephews whom all have a special place in his heart. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rita Kilgallon.
