Flavio Mangini passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024.
Born in Sestri Levante, Italy, Flavio had a passion for learning, an unwavering love for his family, and a deep connection to his homeland.
Flavio earned his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Modena and continued his education at the Wharton School of Business. This led him to a career as a Vice President of Sales and Marketing at 3M for over 30 years. Upon retirement, he taught Italian courses at the Osher Institute at the College of William & Mary.
Flavio is survived by his loving wife, Lynne, his daughter Lisa and son-in-law Bill, his daughter Julia and son-in-law Don, his son David and son-in-law Eddie, and his grandchildren Gina, Luca, Gabriel, and Isabella. Flavio cherished his life with Lynne as they raised their children.
Flavio’s heart was always at home in Italy, where he often returned to visit family and friends. He found joy in sharing stories of his travels and believed that every experience offered a lesson. He imparted that wisdom to his family, encouraging them to embrace curiosity and explore the world around them.
His legacy will live on through the love and lessons he imparted to those he cherished. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dream Catchers or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
