Marie Poff, 71, a beloved resident of Knotts Island, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 1st, 1953, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Robert and Earline Parsons, Marie’s life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication.
Throughout her 71 years, Marie wove joy into the lives of everyone she encountered. Her journey led her to Chesapeake, Virginia, where she first met her husband at the Indian River Inn. There, a story began that would define much of her life’s happiness. She cherished every moment spent with Jackson, her devoted husband, and found peace and beauty in tending to her garden.
Marie’s work at Mr. Green Jeans and the Indian River Inn was more than just a job; it was an extension of her warm spirit and vibrant personality. Her colleagues and customers were drawn to her kindness and heartwarming smile, which she freely shared with all.
Family was the heart of Marie’s world. She spent countless, cherished moments with her children Casey, Dave and his wife Cindy, Tonya, and Melissa. Her grandchildren—Tanya, Richard, Kayla, Eddie, Junior, Michael, Taylor, Madison, Collin, and Stormy—knew her as their biggest supporter and their favorite storyteller. Marie’s great-grandchildren—Kherington, Jasyah, Izabelle, Alivia, Connor, and Emerald-Jeanne—were blessed with her gentle presence, and they filled her days with laughter and love.
Her legacy is one of warmth and kindness, leaving behind a family enriched by her love and a lifetime of beautiful memories. Though she will be deeply missed, Marie’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
