Anna Marichen Adele Philip, 85, passed away peacefully at home on September 30, 2024 after a four-year battle with Cancer. She was born in Bremerhaven, Germany, and lived in Newport News for the past 50 years. She was known for the love of her grandchildren, a kind-hearted friend, and a member of the German Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond C. Philip; her parents, Kathe and Wilhelm Meseke; her sister, Ilse Lange and brother, Heinrich Meseke. She is survived by her four children, Connie Cirrincione, Jens Philip, Mike Philip and his wife, Jacqueline, Larry Harris and family of Biloxi, Mississippi; her grandchildren, the loves of her life, Ryan Dellinger, Lauren Dellinger, Lisa Hernandez (Frank), Emma Philip and Landon Philip; her sister, Margret Fuhrer, nieces, cousins and extended family on her husband’s side.
Anna was a proud military spouse who supported her husband during several of his tours. She loved her husband dearly and now is joined with him in Heaven. She will be remembered for the love she showed her grandchildren. Anna would travel to Germany each year for many years always returning with boxes of gifts and treats for them. She loved cooking her German dishes for them and sharing them with her family and friends.
Anna loved spending time with friends, sharing her love for her German culture. She would bake her famous Spritzgebaeck (butter) cookies and share them with her friends at Vancostas restaurant, local police and fire stations. She never met a stranger. Every person she met, to her, was a friend she hadn’t met yet. Her family is very grateful for all who were kind to her and made her feel special.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Weymouth Funeral Home with interment to follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
