Marie M. Moody, 78, of Williamsburg, died peacefully of heart failure at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Born April 2, 1946, in Portland Maine, Marie was the daughter of Samuel and Mary McFall of Augusta, Maine. She had one sister, Nella Ward, of Ormond Beach, Florida.
Marie graduated from Hall-Dale High School in 1964. She worked for Bell Atlantic for several years putting her devoted husband, Carlisle, through graduate school. She and Carlisle were happily married for 58 years and raised four children: Katrina Cauble, Samantha Emswiler, Adam Moody, and Jonathan Moody. She had one granddaughter, Alexandra, and one great-grandson, Patrick. She also leaves behind her devoted toy poodle, Rocky.
Marie was an avid bowler. She bowled in many regional and national tournaments and at one time had a 175 average. She also travelled extensively. She visited 56 countries from Australia to Zimbabwe and Iceland to New Zealand. She lived in England for two years, where Samantha was born, and Adelaide Australia for six months. She was a wonderful person and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
It was Marie’s wish that her celebration of life be in the spirit of an Irish wake and held at Rocco’s Smokehouse Grill, Bypass Road, Williamsburg. We will honor that wish Saturday, September 7 at 4 p.m.
