Edith Beatrice Bell Greene, 76, of Charles City, VA was born November 1,1947 to the late Rufus Bell, Sr., and Eva Brown Bell. She went to be with the Lord on April 01, 2024.
She was baptized at Little Elam Baptist Church at an early age and was a lifelong faithful member until her health began to decline. Edith was a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years, Vacation Bible School teacher, member of the Christian Ed Ministry, member of the Budget and Finance Ministry, a member of the Banking Committee and Girl Scout troop leader for over 30 years. She was a substitute teacher for Charles City County Elementary and Middle schools for many years. She was exceptional at making arts and crafts and enjoyed sharing her talents and teaching arts and crafts classes at the Charles City Community Center summer camp. Everyone who knew Edith knew her favorite artist was James Brown and how much she loved the Washington Commanders, elephants, and leopard print. Most of all she loved the Lord and her family.
Edith was educated in the Charles City County School system and graduated from Ruthville High School class of 1966. She married Dwight D. Greene of Charles City, VA on February 18, 1967. From this union they were blessed with two children Lynn Greene -Spruel and Dwight D. Greene, Jr.
Edith was preceded in death by her father Rufus Bell, Sr.; grandson, Kennedy Orlando Greene; father-in-law, E. Linwood Greene; mother-in-law, Bernice Greene; sisters-in-law, Bernice Greene (Sis) and Alfreda Greene Bell; and devoted friend, Grace Jones (Bunnie).
Edith leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Dwight D. Greene, Sr.; daughter, Lynn Greene-Spruel; son, Dwight D. Greene, Jr. (Melinda); grandchildren, Laken, MeKayla and Dwight III; great-granddaughter, Madison; mother, Eva Bell; sisters, Annie Bowman (Glenn), Lash Bell, Eva Pugh (Kevin), Etta Charity (Roscoe, Sr.), Gail Thompson (Hugo); brother; Rufus Bell, Jr.; brother-in-law, Randy L. Greene; sister-in-law,, Josie M. Greene; devoted cousin, Carrie Anne Williams; devoted friends, Lois Jones; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
