Albert Lee Cowles was born on August 22, 1943, to the late Judy White Meekins and Robert L. Cowles of Toano, Virginia. On Sunday, December 3, 2023, Albert entered into eternal rest at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances E. Cowles.
At an early age, Albert confessed Christ as his personal Savior. He loved the Lord and always expressed the goodness of God in his life. He was a dedicated employee at The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, where he worked for over forty years and retired as a Master Gardner. If you knew Albert, you would know that he loved helping others by making sure, to the best of his ability, that family and friends were taken care of. He helped others by being a cheerful giver. He was also known to some as “A.C. the Banker”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially when he would give you words of wisdom.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Douglas Meekins, Charles Meekins, Lauren Meekins, Claire Meekins, and Camilla Meekins; and daughter-in-law, Tina Mason.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his daughter, Brenda Smith (Randy); sons Albert Cowles Jr., Tony Mason, and Clovis Mason (Tonya); two grandchildren, Terry Elliott (Stephanie) and Teira Williams (Herbert); five great-grandchildren, Alexis, Isaiah, Javon, Olivia, and Michael; sisters, Judy Wilson (David), Queen Meekins, Linda Rivers (James), Patricia Moore (Robert), and Charlotte Meekins; brothers, Curtis Meekins (Valerie) and David Meekins; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Albert’s life will be held at noon Monday, December 11, 2023, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Mr. Cowles may be viewed on Monday beginning at 11 a.m. until the hour of his service in the funeral home.
