Carol Jones O’Connell was born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania on July 22,1929. She passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023, surrounded by family.
Carol grew up in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, where she developed a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. Her family moved to Newark, New Jersey, and she graduated from Weequahic High School in 1947. She married Michael J. O’Connell, Jr. on June 22, 1950, and they had five children. While raising her children, she pursued a fulfilling career in real estate, where her dedication and hard work earned her respect and admiration. She was known for her unwavering commitment to excellence in both her personal and professional life.
Carol had a passion for family, and she embraced every moment with a warmth and kindness that endeared her to all who knew her. Her laughter was infectious, and her smile lit up every room.
Carol is survived by a large family, including her 5 children and their spouses: Michael (Loretta), Diane (Jim), Lynne (Tim), Jim (Donna), and Robert (Michelle); her grandchildren Mark, Brent (Kitty), Sarah (Eric), Ryan (Libby), Dylan, Adam (Deborah) and Rachel; and her great grandchildren Andrew, Elijah, and Zack; and a wide circle of friends.
A service to honor and celebrate Carol’s life will be held on November 12, 2023, at 2 p.m., at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Southside Chapel. Family and friends are invited to attend, share their memories, and pay their respects.

Although Carol’s passing leaves a void that can never be filled, her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
