Broderick (Buff) Jackson, born on November 30, 1953, to Freida Rimpa and Robert Jackson in Cleveland, Ohio, but Buff always considered Pennsylvania his true home. He graduated from East High School in 1972 in Erie, PA, where he spent his formative years.
Buff is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sally Jackson, his daughters Katrina Jackson Gordon of Bristow, VA, and Deanna McKenzie (Bill) of Clermont, Florida. He leaves behind three cherished granddaughters: Brittany Cabellos (Patrick) of Leesburg, VA; Kelly McKenzie of Clermont, FL; and Tara Gordon of Blacksburg, VA. Buff was also blessed with two great-grandsons, Cameron and Maxwell Cabellos, and a great-granddaughter, Isabella Cabellos. Buff’s memory lives on through his three brothers: Robert, Brian (Kathy), and John (Candy), all from Erie, PA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Buff was a proud Army veteran with 21 years of dedicated service. He had a deep love for his country and felt honored to have served. After relocating to the Tidewater Area, he devoted another 21 years to the Norfolk District of the Army Corps of Engineers. Known for his warm and friendly personality, Buff never met a stranger. He had a passion for life and enjoyed connecting with people. He cherished his Pittsburgh Steelers and was an avid supporter of VA Tech football, relishing game days and tailgating. His other great love was golf, where he played an instrumental role in organizing an annual golf tournament, primarily for Corps workers, held in Pinehurst, NC, or Myrtle Beach, SC.
Buff’s presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. We wish to thank Dr. Deeb of Virginia Oncology as well as Dr. Devon Shick of Churchland Medical for the great care they provided Buff.
The viewing will be at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 S Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, VA on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Quantico Cemetery date and time TBD. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the VFW or the Wounded Warriors Project.
