Rudell Walker (Whiting’s Funeral Home)

On Monday, July 10, 2023, our loved one, Rudell Walker, peacefully transitioned into the arms of the Lord. She was born on May 11, 1931, to the late Daniel and Martha Ann Walker.

Early in life, Rudell accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public School System. She was a hard and dedicated worker until her health began to fail.

Rudell was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but we find comfort in knowing that Rudell is now at peace, resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior. We also know that God’s will has been done. Smile on, beloved one, and take your well-deserved rest. We will always carry the memories of you close within our hearts. We love you.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Daniel Walker Jr., Wesley Walker, and Robert “Popcorn” Walker; sister, Mary Alice Walker; and two great-grandchildren, Juwell Walker and Autumn Walker.

She leaves to cherish her blessed memories with her devoted daughters, Gloria Walker and Pearl Walker; loyal, faithful, and committed niece, Lorianda Walker Johnson (Michael); four grandchildren, Derell Walker, Jawahn Walker, Ja’Quari Johnson, and Ja’Mya Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Der’Rico Walker, Ah’Myracle Walker, and Saige Walker; two sisters, Marie Meekins and Elizabeth “Sue” Hawkins; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Walker and Mary “Mae” Walker; special friends, Levonia Lee and Sarah Graves; twenty-three nieces and nephews; fifty-three great-nieces and nephews; thirty-nine great-great-nieces and nephews; six great-great-great-nieces and nephews; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at noon Monday, July 17, 2023, at Whiting’s Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Morris L. Randall Sr. officiating. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the services. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
