Robert Earl Wagner, 79, died March 8, 2023.
Robert was born on July 20, 1943, in Norfolk, VA, to the late Bernard and Ellen Allen Wagner. He was a veteran and served in the US Army during Vietnam. Robert was a carpenter by trade and truly enjoyed working with his hands. He enjoyed camping, and spending time with his family. He coached recreation league football (when his son played), and loved watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a member of VFW Post 6060, and took great pride in being a Vietnam veteran. Robert was predeceased by his parents and both of his brothers, William and Carl Wagner as well as his niece, Carla “Rennie” Wagner.
Left to cherish his memory are, his loving wife of 42 years, Pat Wagner; his adoring daughter, Gretchen M. Dougherty, son in law John Dougherty of Chesapeake; son John Daniel Tefft and wife Linda, also of Chesapeake; 10 grandchildren, Marisa, Lucas, Preston, Mady, John Tyler, Sarah, Claire, Tyler, Kaitlyn, and Megan; and a host of other family and friends. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, April 10, at 1 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran’s Cemetery with Pastor Richard V. Hanson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Disabled American Veterans.
