Julia Gonzalez-Aponte, 93, passed away on January 20th, 2023. Julia was a native to Puerto Rico and moved to Virginia in 2017 to be in the care of her family whom she loved dearly.
Julia was a devout member of the Catholic faith attending St. Anthony of Padua Parish. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was known for being very independent in her years.
She is preceded in death by parents and husband Juan Santiago-Alvira.
She is survived by her son Julio Cesar Santiago-Gonzalez; sisters Isaura Gonzalez-Aponte, Flor Maria Gonzalez-Aponte; brothers Humerto Gonzalez-Aponte, Jose Angel Gonzalez-Aponte; grandchildren Cesar Antonio Santiago-Pleytez, Cesar Noël Santiago-Pleytez, Juan Carlos Santiago-Pleytez, Juliana Santiago-Parrilla, Mabelis Santiago-Parilla; great-grandchildren Alias G. Santiago, Angel L Santiago, Sierra Alyssa Santiago, Geovany Santiago, Roman L. Santiago.
A visitation will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home- Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave. Newport News, VA 23608, on Wednesday January 25th, 2023 from 4-6pm followed by a service at 6pm.
