On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, Grace B. Jones entered eternal rest at the age of 78. Grace was born on February 21, 1944, in Charles City County, VA. The second of three children, she was born to the late Robert and Hester Brown. Grace confessed Christ at an early age. She was a proud graduate of the Ruthville High School class of 1962 and Smith-Madden Business College.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Hester Brown; husband, Wilbert T. Jones, Sr.; one brother, Robert Brown; and devoted cousin, Bernice ‘Billy’ Williams. She is survived by four children Carla V. Cotman (Daryl), Wilbert T. Jones, Jr., Tony O. Jones, Sr. (Tana), and Tammi J. Fox (Steve); seven grandchildren Shana N. Jones, Shante’ L. Crawley, Martia O.M. Jones, Torii A. Harrison, Victoria L. Fox, Richard J. Fox, Tony O. Jones, Jr.; four great-grandchildren Zariya, Riccai, Tsia-Marie, and Roland IV; one brother Micheal A. Brown (Barbara); one bonus daughter Monica T. Brown (Arnold); several nieces and nephews and devoted friends.
Grace B. Jones, affectionally known as Bunnie, will always be remembered as a loving wife, a kind and gentle mother, and a phenomenal Nana-Boo. She was a kind, caring, and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. Grace filled many roles, including Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, Usher, Girl Scout leader, Den Mother, and most recently her varied roles in Chickahominy Health District. From chaperoning band trips for her children and her grandchildren, giving hundreds of Halloween gift bags, being Nana to many young people, and providing a shoulder of comfort or words of encouragement to co-workers, friends, and family she touched many lives with her support and love. Grace was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity, a true role model and a source of inspiration to us all. She will be deeply missed by those she touched. Grace’s family and friends hold on to precious memories, as her spirit will forever live on through those she leaves behind.
Everyone who knew Grace knew she loved her precious Washington Commanders, although if you were a true fan you were there for all the name changes, and clowned anyone; child, grandchild, family, friend, dr, nurse, staff, anyone… who dared to claim any other team.
A celebration of life will be held 12noon Monday, January 2, 2022 at Vincent Funeral Home, Providence Forge, VA. A viewing will be from 10am-12noon on Monday just prior to services.
