James Alexander Jones, 90, of Charles City, VA, departed this life on Thursday, December 22, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years Iva Lee Jones; his parents James and Grace Jones; brother, William O. Jones, Sr.; sister, Essie Elmon Cotman and son, Keith Alexander Jones, Sr.
James, known by close friends as “Holy”, attended Charles City Public Schools. He was a member of Little Elam Baptist Church where he enjoyed engaging with his church family. James worked for Virginia Folding Box (Westvaco) for over 37 years where he retired at the age of 62. He loved fishing, hunting and sitting in his garage working on things (sometimes things that weren’t even broke). James was a staple in the Charles City Community and was loved and respected by many.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his four daughters, devoted, Carmen Caudle (Nathaniel), devoted,Pamela Jones, Carol Whitlock, and Yvette Jones; four sons, Kenneth, Gary (June),devoted son Mark (Elaine), and Lloyd (Gina); nephews, Robert Cotman and Charles Johnson (Chuckie); one brother, Abraham Jones; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grand-children; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relative and friends.
A funeral service will be held 12Noon, Friday, December 30, 2022, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. A viewing will be Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 5PM-8PM at the funeral home. Burial to follow services at Little Elam Baptist Church, Charles City, VA.
