Alethia ‘Louise’ Meade, 90, enjoyed gardening and crafting

Alethia “Louise” Meade, 90 of Virginia Beach, met her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018. Louise was the youngest of nine children born to the late Haywood and Sabra Banks in Currituck, North Carolina.

She moved to Norfolk at the age of 17, where she met the love of her life, Powhatan L. Meade Sr. They were married for 57 years before his passing in 2001. Louise was a very active and loving mother with artistic talents that appeared throughout her home and in various projects. She enjoyed her work for many years in retail and jewelry sales at GEX and JCPenney followed by Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Arts & Crafts. She loved gardening, crafting and yard sales. She was a longtime member of Westwood Hills Baptist Church and Newsong Fellowship Church.

Louise is survived by her three children, Powhatan L. Meade Jr., and wife, Karen, Mark K. Meade Sr., and wife, Kathy, and Denise Maida, and husband, Joe. She is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family is so thankful for our “angels” who have taken care of Mom, June Pope, Linda Parent, Olivia Brown, Mamie Jefferson, Phyllis Robinson and Patricia Harper. Our thanks go out to Sentara Hospice Care for the care she received in her final days.
