
Warren D. “Biggie” Tucker, 96, died peacefully early Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at his home at Atlantic Shores in Virginia Beach. He was born June 9, 1921, at home in Ocean View to the late Addie James Parkerson Tucker and Wallace Upton Tucker.
He never lived less than a few blocks from the beach where he enjoyed boating, fishing and visiting with friends. After attending Maury High School, he volunteered to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II and came home to work at the Naval Air Reworks Facility as an aeronautical examiner. He and his brother enjoyed various activities; such as, building and racing hydroplanes. After retiring, he and his wife owned the Reef Lounge and Ocean Eddie’s Seafood Restaurant. He was a member of Bayside Lodge No. 218 for almost 50 years as well as the Norfolk Valley of the Scottish Rite, the Khedive Shrine, the Order of the Quetzalcoatl and the Virginia Beach Shrine Club. He was also a founding member and former captain of the Mini-18 Wheelers.
Biggie leaves his wife, Betty Lachman Tucker, the love of his life for 28 years. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Lou, and her husband, Jeff Hague; grandchildren, James Tucker Hague, Parkerson Bruner Hague, and William Baxter Hague, who brought him great joy and will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his daughter, Cindy Edwards of Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Jane “Sue” Wright of Richmond, and her children, Julie Riley and Wayne Wright; nephew, Richard Tucker; and cousins Gary, Kim and Scooter Cromwell and Butch Parkerson.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at Rosewood Memorial Park with a visitation one hour prior at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home where Masonic rites will be rendered at 10:30 a.m. Both funeral home and cemetery grounds are on site.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Khedive Shrine Transportation Fund, Khedive Shrine, 645 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23330. Thank you to Dr. Cajulis and all others who cared for him during the last few years.
