
Macilinda Petalcorin Loberternos, 71, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018. She was born in Tubigon, Bohol, Philippines, to the late Pedro Sr. and Mercedes Petalcorin. Macilinda was preceded in death by her elder brother, Benjamin C. Petalcorin.
Macilinda was a longtime member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. In the course of her life, she was an affiliate of the Cebuano Speaking Association of Tidewater and the Salinas. Macilinda was a dedicated and hardworking registered nurse by profession at DePaul Hospital and later retired from Sentara Leigh Hospital. She loved to travel and enjoyed life. Macilinda referred to all who she met as “My Friend,” and for this she will always be loved and remembered.
Macilinda leaves to cherish her memory two beloved sons, Kent and Ryan Loberternos; three sisters, Teresita Medidas and Esterlina Petalcorin of the Philippines and Daisy Lorejo of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Pedro Petalcorin of the Philippines and Jesus Petalcorin of Virginia Beach; and a host of nieces and nephews and special friends Grace Magallon, Gloria Convento and Arlene Fronteras.
A visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Norfolk. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Virginia Beach.
