Erwin N. Arellano, 73, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018. He was born Feb. 25, 1944, in Urdaneta, Philippines, to Juan and Thelma Arellano. The first of seven children, Erwin married Nena Buenagua on Dec. 26, 1970, in Manila. Erwin served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years before retiring as a chief petty officer in 1999. Erwin enjoyed spending time with his wife and children, volunteering at Holy Spirit Parish and with the Urdaneta City Association of Virginia Beach and serving as a Master Mason with the Victory Daylight Lodge.
Left to honor Erwin are his three children, Eric Arellano, Erin (David) Westcott, Rena (Steve) Thompson; and grandchildren, Alex and Andrew Westcott.
A viewing will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, with a funeral service following at 2 p.m., at Family Choice Funerals and Cremations, 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. Family, friends and others whose lives were touched by Erwin are invited to reminisce and celebrate his life.
