Mary Katherine Young, 58, passed from this life on January 24, 2016 surrounded by family and in the arms of her loving husband of 34 years, Greg Young, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
Mary was born on August 31, 1957 to Virginia Virkler and the late Henry “Hank” Means in Joplin, MO. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Randy Means.
Mary is survived by her husband Greg; daughters Paige Young, Jackie Blosser and husband Rob; mother, Virginia Virkler; siblings, Toni Tompkins, Valerie Rao (Larry), Steven Means, and Bill Means (Linda); sisters-in-law Kathy Henderson (Barry), Nancy Schiener (Karl), Cindy Depow (Bruce) and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Mary was a teacher by profession and was loved by many students. Her family and friends were the focal point of her life. She was a phenomenal mother to her daughters and a loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister, and friend. Her infectious laugh and smile will be forever missed.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
