Eleanor A. Walker, 101, took a trip to the Panama Canal at the age of 100

Eleanor A. Walker, a faithful member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 101 years old.

Ms. Walker became a world traveler at the young age of 18 and continued her passion with her longtime companion, Marion Simmons, until Marion passed in 2007. Her last excursion was to the Panama Canal in 2013, at the age of 100. She was a truly amazing lady.

She was born in 1912 and was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ella Walker of New York; brother, George W. Walker; and nephew, Captain Harry C. Walker, USN (Ret).

She is survived by her niece, Dana Lee Walker Wasserman, of Newport News; great-nephew, George (Skip) Walker and his spouse, Laura, of Portsmouth; great-niece, Lee Walker Shepherd and her spouse, Jack, of Rockwall, Texas; and great-nephew, H. Craig Walker, of Charlotte, N.C.

Burial will be private.

Memorials in her name may be made to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, 215 Richmond, Rd., Williamsburg, VA or to the charity of your choice.
