Freshman standout Clara Wincheski led the girls with a second-place finish of 20 minutes, 26 seconds. Cameron Wojcieszak paced Bruton’s boys with an eighth-place finish of 18:11.
Curt Ivanoff, Andrew Cadwell, Davis Woolson and Nate Florence were the next five fastest runners for Bruton’s boys. Rounding out the girls’ top finishers were first-year runners Jenny Schuster, Rachel Brotherton, Victoria Senn and Rebecca Weddle. Click here for complete results, courtesy of milestat.com.
“The girls ran an especially strong race considering that they are all new to high school cross-country this year. They are a young and talented team,” Coach Mark Tompkins said. “The boys ran a solid race led by seniors Cameron (Wojcieszak), Andrew (Cadwell) and junior Curt (Ivanoff).”
Both teams will race next week in the 2A East Region meet at Panorama Farms in Earlysville in hopes of reaching states for the first time during Tompkins’ tenure.
