Drivers in Hampton Roads can expect closures on water crossings, interstates and notable detours for the week of Dec. 2 to Dec. 8.
This list covers full closures of interstates, ramps, bridges and primary roads, and single lane closures at the bridge-tunnels and the Berkley, High Rise and James River bridges.

Bridges
- Single-lane closures I-264 west, Dec. 4-6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Full Tunnel closure;
- I-64 east, Dec. 2, 2 a.m. to 3 a.m.
- I-64 west, Dec. 2, 3 a.m. to 4 a.m.
- Full stoppages in both directions, Dec. 2, between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. lasting no longer than 15 minutes. Motorists can expect delays.
- Full stoppages in both directions Dec. 2, between 9 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. Motorists can expect delays.
I-64
- Full ramp closures on I-64 with signed detours in place, on Dec. 2-6, as follows:
- I-64 east and west to Route 60/Busch Gardens (exit 243A), as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-64 east and west to Route 143 (exit 243B), as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Route 60 on-ramp to I-64 east and west, as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-64 east and west to Route 199 west (exit 242A), as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-64 east and west to Route 199 east (exit 242B), as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Route 199 east and west on-ramps to I-64 east and west, as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-64 east and west to Yorktown Road/Jefferson Avenue (exit 247), as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Jefferson Avenue (Route 143) on-ramps to I-64 east and west, as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Yorktown Road (Route 238) on-ramp to I-64 east, as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Starting overnight on Dec. 2-6, eastbound traffic shifts will begin on I-64 between the western limits of the Segment III Project, approximately 1 mile west of Route 199/Lightfoot (exit 234) and the Queens Creek bridges (mile marker 239), weather permitting. Traffic will be shifted to the outside lane and shoulder to allow for clearing in the median and construction of the new travel lane.
- A consecutive, long-term full ramp closure on Route 143 Merrimac Trail north to I-64 west continues. Traffic will follow detour signage in place directing motorists to the Route 143 south on-ramp to I-64 west during the closure.

- I-64 west, Dec. 2, 3 a.m. to 4 a.m.
- Single-lane closure east, Dec. 3-6, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Single-lane closure west, Dec. 3-4, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Single-lane closure west at the Willoughby bridges;
- Dec. 2-3, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-64 west off-ramp (Exit 231A) closure to Croaker Road.
- Dec. 7-9, 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.
I-264
- Nighttime work continues on I-64 west ramp to I-264 east (Exit 284B) through the weekend, with full ramp closures overnight Nov. 30, Dec. 1 and Dec. 2. Detour signs will direct traffic to take the next exit (Exit 284A) and continue to ride the interchange cloverleaf ramps until they exit to I-264 east from I-64 east. The work and ramp detour are scheduled to be in place during the following times:
- 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1
- 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 to 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2
- 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 to 3 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3
- Intermittent traffic stoppages on I-264 east ramp (exit 15A) to Newtown Road lasting no longer than 15 minutes on Dec. 4-8 between 12:01 a.m. and 4 a.m.
- The City of Virginia Beach will close Greenwich Road at Witchduck Road Saturday, Dec. 1 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, click HERE
- Nightly closures on Newtown Road south under I-264 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. through mid-December. Signed detours are in place.
- Center Drive: The left turn onto Center Drive from Newtown Road north is closed at Newtown Road. Motorists are also restricted from turning left out of Center Drive onto Newtown Road north. Signed detours are in place for both movements.
I-664
- Single-lane closure north Dec. 5-6, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
