WILLIAMSBURG — Summer is here at Water Country USA, with the park now open for the 2024 season and preparing to celebrate its 40th anniversary with enhancements.
The newly revamped Nitro Racer: Supercharged will debut on May 24, just in time for the holiday weekend as the park kicks off daily operation through Sept. 2, it said.
“We’re excited for all this summer has in store for our guests,” said Kevin Lembke, Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA Park President. “From the opening of Nitro Racer: Supercharged to celebrations of the park’s 40th birthday, there’s something for everyone this year at Water Country USA.”
Nitro Racer: Supercharged is a classic six-lane bodysurfing slide with an all-new twist, the park said. The anticipation begins at the top of the tower with new lights and sounds as six riders assemble at the start line. Then, racing across 320 feet of track, a timed finish will determine each race’s champion before putting the top scores of the day on a leaderboard at the end of the ride. Plus, winners can capture their victory at an all-new Winners Circle photo opportunity.
Nitro Racer: Supercharged is one of ten slides at Water Country USA, complimenting relaxing areas to unwind, including Hubba Hubba Highway, Rock ‘n’ Roll Island, plus kid-friendly spaces like Lil’ Surfers Splash Pad and H20 UFO, it said.
Guests are also invited to check out enhancements to Catalina Grille, Water Country USA’s signature restaurant. The newly renovated restaurant is now complete with digital menu boards, a revamped queue experience, new mobile ordering and new rotating menu items. These upgrades were made with guests in mind, the park said, offering “a better dining experience from start to finish.”
On June 20, Water Country USA will celebrate 40 years of operation. The park said it will announce additional details in the coming weeks for its anniversary celebration, which will feature surprise giveaways, bonus member rewards and more.
