There’s a new medical director at Olde Towne Medical & Dental Center

JAMES CITY COUNTY — Olde Towne Medical & Dental Center is welcoming its new medical director, Dr. Gregory Biernacki.

A graduate of Miami University, he received his Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C. He attended medical school as part of the Health Professions Scholarship Program and was commissioned as a Captain in the United States Air Force Medical Corps upon graduation.

Biernacki completed his residency in Preventive Medicine and received a Masters of Public
Health at the Medical College of Virginia. He is boarded by the American College of
Preventive Medicine in Public Health, Preventive Medicine and Aerospace Medicine.

Living in Williamsburg for several years, Biernacki has worked in both the Sentara Healthcare and Riverside Health System networks. He practiced with the Riverside Williamsburg Medical Arts Family Practice for 15 years and at Sentara New Town Family Physicians for eight years.

While at Sentara Medical Group, he held positions as Associate Medical Director for Primary Care for the Peninsula and Clinical Chief of the Urgent Care Division.

“Dr. Biernacki is familiar with the medical needs of our community, having had a
distinguished career in Williamsburg,” said said Aaron Thompson, the facility’s Executive Director, in a news release from Olde Towne Medical and Dental Center. “There is no doubt that his vast experience within the medical community will lend itself to success with our patient population. Olde Towne is delighted to have him as our new medical director,”

Biernacki served in the military with the 71st Tactical Fighter Squadron. Once transitioning from active duty, he joined the Virginia Air National Guard. His leadership roles have included Chief of Flight Medicine, Chief of Aerospace Medicine, and Virginia State Air Surgeon.

While serving in Iraq, he served in many capacity including as the Commander of the 447th Expeditionary Medical Squadron. More recently, he served as the Joint Task Force Belle Chase Brigade Surgeon during relief efforts in New Orleans following hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Aside from his new role with Olde Towne, Dr. Biernacki serves as an Associate Clinical Professor for the Family and Community Medicine Department at Duke University, as Associate Clinical Faculty at Medical College of Virginia, and as Associate Clinical Faculty at Old Dominion University.
