Route 199 ramp-widening project completed

Commuters can expect a less congested departure when they exit Route 199 via the westbound off-ramp onto Richmond Road in James City County, now that a road-widening project is complete.

Crews increased the pavement width of the ramp and constructed exclusive left- and right-turn lanes, according to a news release from the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Construction on the $415,144 project began in February and concluded May 24, more than two months ahead of schedule.

Williamsburg-based J.S.G. Corporation was awarded the contract for the project and completed it on-budget.
