JCC Awards $258k in Stormwater, Drainage Grants

More than 20 James City County neighborhoods will be able to repair or improve their stormwater management systems with help from county grants.

About $238,000 in matching grants was awarded for drainage repairs through the Neighborhood Drainage Maintenance grant program and nearly $20,000 was awarded for best management practice repairs and upgrades through the Clean Water Heritage grant program.

The grant applications were reviewed by the Stormwater Program Advisory Committee, which ranked each according to an evaluation criteria.

The repairs supported by the grants are valued at more than $650,000.

Neighborhood Drainage Maintenance Grants

  • 114 Constance: $225, Inspect pipe to determine cause of sinkholes
  • 117 Braddock Rd: $5,500, Repair of pipe and backfill area
  • 6 Jonathan Ct: $2,850, Repair V-Ditch and remove trees
  • Berkley’s Green: $5,320, Repair V-Ditch, remove trees, and replace 90 degree turns
  • Fairway Villas HOA: $49,950, Slip Line  or replace 3 pipes and repair storm drain
  • Fernbrook HOA: $50,000, Replace failed drain pipe from Governor Yeardley Ln to General Gookin Ct
  • Fieldcrest HOA: $8,225, V-ditch Repair, Subsidence, Tree removal
  • Fieldcrest HOA: $1,000, Condition assessment of drainage system
  • First Colony: $405, Lake Pasbehegh Spillway Inspection
  • Ford’s Colony HOA: $8,500, Replace drain pipe backfill area
  • Greensprings Plantation: $9,000, Install concrete v-ditch
  • James Square: $6,425, Repair of concrete v-ditch and tree removal
  • Jamestown 1607: $22,250, Reinstall 3 drop inlets, regrade swales, and re-establish drainage from parking bays
  • Kingsmill Community Services Association: $2,000, Spillway Drainage study for prevention of damage to new spillway
  • Pointe at Jamestown: $7,500, Sink hole repairs
  • Pointe at Jamestown: $2,000, Inspection and Inventory
  • Skiffes Creek Terrace HOA: $6,750, Repair drainage pipe. Re-graderip rap. Stabilize spillway
  • The Villages at Powhatan Secondary: $27,900, Inspection and cleaning of drain structures
  • Villages at Westminster: $9,000, Repair drop inlet, repair erosion around clubhouse pool
  • Ware Creek Manor: $13,500, Repair/replace swale and spillway
