JAMES CITY COUNTY — The James City County Police Department (JCCPD) is investigating a fatal pedestrian-involved traffic crash on Pocahontas Trail.
On Tuesday, Dec. 14 at approximately 7:30 p.m., JCCPD and the James City County Fire Department responded to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian in the 7300 block of Pocahontas Trail.
According to JCCPD, 49-year-old Tammy Sue Churchill of James City County was wearing dark-colored clothing while crossing the road towards the bus stop when she was struck by a 2014 Honda Odyssey driven by a 37-year-old Chesapeake resident.
Churchill was transported by medics to Riverside Doctor’s Hospital Williamsburg where she was pronounced dead.
No other injuries were reported. Pocahontas Trail was closed for about an hour while the investigation took place.
The crash remains under investigation, but no charges related to the crash are expected, JCCPD said.
