HAMPTON ROADS — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Give Local 757 is going virtual this year.
An initiative created by the Peninsula Community Foundation in Hampton with the goal to build and bring awareness to local philanthropy, Give Local 757 raises money for community nonprofit organizations through social media.
This year, Give Local 757 will be livestreamed from midnight to 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11. This exciting event will feature interviews with nonprofits and partners, show videos submitted by participants, and announce a variety of prizes.
The annual giving day is typically scheduled for the second Tuesday of May. Peninsula Community Foundation says that this event brings together the Hampton Roads communities while also raising funds for local charitable nonprofit organizations. On the Give Local 757 homepage, potential donors can search for organizations by name, location, or cause.
Donations can be made through the platform, GiveGab, which helps nonprofits raise money and to collaborate with their donors. Organizations must be a verified 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit that is based out of Hampton Roads or provide services within the Tidewater community.
More information about the livestream event can be found online.
