PHOTOS: Bruce Hornsby’s mother, Gov. Northam in audience as Funhouse Fest packs Colonial Williamsburg

Mother Nature made a guest appearance, but night one of Funhouse Fest belonged to headliner Alison Krauss and host Bruce Hornsby.

Fans streamed into Funhouse Fest and packed the green in front of the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum in Williamsburg Friday evening. A queue of eager guests awaiting admission stretched down Henry Street nearly into Merchants Square.

Many guests carried folding chairs or blankets, and others donned rain jackets or ponchos to keep the threatening skies at bay.

Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers began Funhouse Fest before a packed crowd at 7 p.m. Their set was interrupted by lightning, and Funhouse Fest fell silent for about an hour before the show resumed with Alison Krauss around 9:15 p.m.

Funhouse Fest will resume Saturday with gates opening at 3:30 p.m. Deva Mehal, The Wood Brothers, Amos Lee will take turns on the main stage before Bruce Hornsby joins forces with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra to close out the evening.
