WILLIAMSBURG — The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown announced it will present the Colonial Tea Ball Nov. 8 in partnership with the Yorktown Tea Festival.

Held in partnership with the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission and the Yorktown Commemoration Committee, the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation said the Yorktown Tea Festival aims to instill a sense of admiration for the history and traditions of tea and tea drinking in Virginia.

From 7 to 10 p.m., the foundation said that fans of Bridgerton or the 1800s social scene “can live their dream as they waltz into a modern-day soirée and twirl through time with 18th-century dance forms set in the museum’s grand ballroom.”

According to the foundation, modern-day moves will be transformed into Revolution-era elegance as dance master, author and historian John Millar leads more than a dozen dances. From “Jefferson’s Whim” to “The Queen’s Jig,” dancers will follow step-by-step choreography instructions in souvenir booklets.

Live music will be performed on traditional colonial instruments by the Itinerant Band, and attendees can catch their breath with a stroll through museum exhibits, including tea-inspired artifacts on display. Attendees are encouraged to dress to impress in 18th-century or present-day party attire.

Admission is $25 per person and is designed for ages 13 and up. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with dancing beginning at 7 p.m. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, and a cash bar and snacks will be available. The event includes a souvenir booklet with step-by-step dancing instructions. Tickets are available in-person and online in advance at jyfmuseums.org/colonial-tea-ball.
