NEWPORT NEWS — The city made $307.8 million in tourism revenue last year, according to the U.S. Travel Association Research Department.
The amount generated is $307,845,245, a 4.1 percent increase from the previous year’s revenue, according to the Newport News Tourism department.

The city also “supported” 3,047 jobs, produced $10,495,782 in local taxes and $13,066,234 in state taxes compared to 2016, according to the Virginia Tourism Corporation.
Overall, the state of Virginia generated $25 billion from tourism, according to the revenue report.
