Drivers on Interstate 64 should expect a series of nightly lane closures — and possibly some delays — through the week.
As a result of VDOT’s I-64 widening project certain ramps and lanes will experience closures from Dec. 30 to Jan. 5.
There will be full ramp closures on Sunday as well as Wednesday and Thursday. Signed detours will be in place.
Ramp Closures
- I-64 east and west to Route 60/Busch Gardens (exit 243A), as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-64 east and west to Route 143 (exit 243B), as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Route 60 on-ramp to I-64 east and west, as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-64 east and west to Route 199 west (exit 242A), as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-64 east and west to Route 199 east (exit 242B), as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Route 199 east and west on-ramps to I-64 east and west, as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-64 east and west to Yorktown Road/Jefferson Avenue (exit 247), as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Jefferson Avenue (Route 143) on-ramps to I-64 east and west, as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Yorktown Road (Route 238) on-ramp to I-64 east, as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Long-term full ramp closure on Route 143 Merrimac Trail North to I-64 west.
- Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, single lane closures east from Wednesday to to Jan. 5 from 8 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, single lane closures west, Thursday to Jan. 5 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- High Rise Bridge Tunnel, I-64 single-lane closures in both directions between Greenbrier Parkway and S. Military Highway, Wednesday to Jan. 9, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- I-64 express lanes, full closure in both directions on Monday from 9-11 a.m.
Ramp Closures
- I-64 west ramp to I-264 east and I-254 east exit to Newtown Road, full closure from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Jan. 4-5.
- I-95 north to US-58 west at exit 11A, full ramp closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 3.
