NORFOLK — A 13-year-old boy is facing charges after he allegedly sent a threatening tweet about Rosemont Middle School.
A 911 operator received a call Monday regarding the tweet, which police said stated “I’m going to shoot up Rosemont middle and burn it to the ground get ready.”
Detectives immediately launched an investigation and identified the boy, who was placed in custody before the start of school Tuesday.
He was charged with threatening bodily harm “and was released into his parents’ custody,” police said.
Authorities said they take every school threat seriously and encourages anyone who knows of any threat to a school to call 911 immediately.
