Rock-climbing gym slated for Norfolk

Norfolk — Get ready to grab your climbing gear — a new rock climbing gym is coming to Norfolk.

Latitude Climbing + Fitness is slated to open in a 15,000-square-foot warehouse building located at 1830 Lindsay Ave. The historic building — which is owned by Robert Roman and Claus Ihlemann of Decorum Furniture Store — was built in the Williamston-Woodland Historic District in 1919, according to state records.

“It has been very exciting to restore this wonderful warehouse and save a small piece of Norfolk history” Roman said in a news release.

The rock-climbing gym will include yoga and fitness classes, as well as a refreshment bar and retail shops. Climbers from all skill levels will be able to train together, according to Jason McKenzie of Latitude Climbing + Fitness.

Latitude Climbing + Fitness is slated to open in the summer of 2018.
