NORFOLK — Forty-four people were charged and nearly $200,000 in drugs were confiscated during a bust in Norfolk.
The charges come as the result of an eight-month investigation into gang activity in Norfolk. Of the 44, police said a dozen of the accused are “known” gang members. Those 12 have not been charged with gang-related crimes at this point, but may be upon further investigation, said Norfolk Police Department Cpl. William Pickering.
“That was the focus — to identify gang members who were also dealing illegal narcotics,” Pickering said.
Throughout the investigation, police recovered $190,000 in drugs, including about 11 ounces of heroin, three pounds of marijuana, nine grams of MDMA and 24 ecstasy pills. Police also confiscated a dozen guns and more than $85,000 in cash, according to an NPD news release.
The NPD has released the names of 19 people who were arrested in connection to the drug bust. They are declining to release the names of others who are still being investigated, but have said that 39 people are facing state charges and five are facing federal accusations.
- Maurice Adams, 29, Norfolk: charged with multiple counts of controlled substance distribution, as well as the distribution of marijuana.
- Maurice Boykins, 31, Norfolk: charged with multiple counts of controlled substance distribution, as well as controlled substance possession.
- Dion Dickens, 25, Norfolk: charged with multiple counts of distributing MDMA.
- Kim Foster, 51, Norfolk: charged with multiple counts of distributing heroin.
- Brandon Coney, 32, Norfolk: charged with distributing marijuana.
- Dequan Bolden, 23, Norfolk: charged with multiple counts of distributing marijuana.
- Antonio Davis, 30, Norfolk: charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
- Rodney Taylor, 36, Norfolk: charged with multiple counts of distributing cocaine, as well as distributing heroin.
- Robert Williams, 31, Norfolk: charged with possession of a gun by a felon.
- Ursula Farris, 34, Norfolk: charged with controlled substance possession.
- Kavin Bahrani, 21, Norfolk: charged with multiple counts of controlled substance distribution, as well as marijuana distribution.
- William Koob, 20, Norfolk: charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
- Jared Bryant, 26, Norfolk: charged with multiple counts of controlled substance distribution, as well as marijuana distribution, marijuana distribution within 1,000 feet of Booker T. Washington High School and controlled substance distribution within a 1,000 feet of Booker T. Washington High School.
- Carlos Gray, 43, Norfolk: charged with multiple counts of controlled substance distribution, as well as heroin and marijuana distribution.
- William Satterfield, 35, Norfolk: charged with multiple counts of controlled substance distribution, as well as heroin distribution, conspiracy to sell heroin and distributing heroin within 1,000 feet of Campostella Stem Academy.
- Marlon Moss, 44, Chesapeake: charged with controlled substance distribution.
- Nathan Talbert, 39, Norfolk: charged with controlled substance distribution.
- Ernest Thorngren, 25, Norfolk/Chesapeake: charged with heroin distribution and distributing heroin within 1,000 feet of a school.
- Cornell Hathaway, 29, Norfolk: charged with marijuana distribution.
Police are also still searching for two people accused in the bust: 50-year-old Needham Wilder, of Norfolk, and 35-year-old Timothy Pope, of Norfolk.
Wilder is charged with distributing a controlled substance, while Pope is charged with distributing marijuana.
