VIRGINIA BEACH — An accused dealer was charged with a felony after he allegedly sold $20,000 worth of marijuana to a Virginia Beach man, according to court documents.
Jacob Gearey, 21, is accused of selling about 10 pounds of marijuana to Vincent Anthony Kieffer, 20, on Nov. 15, according to documents filed in Virginia Beach Circuit Court.
Police believe the drug deal happened at a home in the 1000 block of Riverbend Road.
A Virginia Beach Police Department detective was watching Kieffer when he left his home in the 200 block of East Palmyra Drive and put a black bag into the trunk of a Toyota. The detective followed Kieffer as he drove the Riverbend Road address where he watched the man take the black bag out of the car, go into the home and leave the address carrying a blue bag, which he also put into the trunk, court documents state.
A short time later a different VBPD officer stopped Kieffer near the 5200 block of Princess Anne Road because he was allegedly driving with an illegal tint and an object dangling illegally in front of his windshield, according to court documents.
The officer searched the car and found about 28 grams of marijuana in the glove box. The officer also found about 10 pounds of marijuana in “large, heat-sealed bags” in the trunk, court documents state.
Police interviewed Kieffer who said he bought the marijuana for $20,000 from Gearey at the Riverbend Run location. He also said that was the fifth time he’d bought marijuana from Gearey, according to court documents.
The next day, a VBPD detective was doing surveillance on the Riverbend Run location when he watched Gearey and 23-year-old Yazan Albarghouthy park, go into the home and then leave for Walmart, located at 657 Phoenix Drive, court documents state.
While the men were in the store, the detective and a drug dog screened the car for the presence of narcotics. When the pair came out of the Walmart they were detained by police, who found a small amount of marijuana in the car and $6,000 in Gearey’s pocket, according to court documents.
Gearey also told police that although he’s been unemployed for several months he has about $30,000 in his bank accounts, court documents state.
Albarghouthy was charged with conspiracy to sell marijuana. Gearey was charged with selling marijuana and possession of marijuana. Both men were released on bail are scheduled to appear in Virginia Beach General District Court on Jan. 18.
Kieffer was charged with selling marijuana and operating a car with an illegal tint and obstructed windshield. He was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Virginia Beach General District Court on Jan. 11.
