Police are looking for a man with a gun who allegedly tried to rob a person near the Grafton Station Apartments early Saturday morning.
The attempted armed robbery occurred around 4 a.m. in the 1000 block of Piccadilly Loop, outside the apartments, York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shelley Ward said.
Police say the man had a gun when he tried to rob the person, but was not able to take any items.
The man ran from the scene on foot, Ward said.
Deputies have cleared the area where the attempted robbery occurred, Ward said, but police are still looking for a suspect.
The suspect is described as a black man with short hair, a mustache and goatee and scruff on his face. He was wearing a plain dark T-shirt and dark pants. Police say he has a thin build and is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall.
Police are asking people in that area who heard anything unusual to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or the Facebook Tip Line at 757-890-4999. Anyone who sees something suspicious should call 911.
