VIRGINIA BEACH – A local cleaning company donated more than 2,500 pounds of food to the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia.
The winter drive was part of The Cleaning Authority CARES, an initiative that raises awareness and collects donations for food banks.
Each time a staff member visited a client from November 2016 to January, they left brown paper bags that clients could put food donations in. Staff would later return to collect the donations. More than 100,000 pounds of food were collected during that time.
The Virginia Beach franchise, owned by David and Bambi Rivera, took donations from about 640 customers, making their location the third highest collector out of 100 participating locations nationwide.
