Police seek suspect in armed robbery at Williamsburg motel

williamsburg-police-car-300x131Police are seeking a man who they believe robbed a woman at a Williamsburg motel Tuesday night.

A woman reported to police that she was waiting for a friend in a motel room in the 3000 block of Richmond Road around 10:10 p.m. when a person knocked on her door, Williamsburg Police Department Spokesman Maj. Greg Riley said.

The woman said a man armed with a handgun forced his way inside her room when she opened the door and demanded money, Riley said.

She gave the man an undetermined amount of cash, and he fled in an unknown direction, according to police.

The suspect is described as a black man who was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.

The man was not known to the victim, Riley said.
