A man connected to events that led to the shooting death of a 17-year-old entered a guilty plea last week.
Alphonzo Christopher Jackson, 20, pleaded guilty Thursday in York-Poquoson Circuit Court to conspiring to rob Dylan Peters, a Tabb High student who was fatally shot at his home during the attempted robbery.
He will be sentenced Dec. 8.
Prior to his arrest, Jackson told York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office investigators he had been with 20-year-old Tevin DeSean Lambert and 17-year-old Evan Guy Tyler the day Peters was killed.
Court documents show Jackson told investigators the three of them discussed the possibility of robbing Peters for drugs and money, which is the basis of the conspiracy charge against him, York-Poquoson Commonwealth’s Attorney Benjamin Hahn said.
His guilty plea is not part of an agreement with the prosecution, Hahn said.
Lambert and Tyler, who is being tried as an adult, also face charges connected Peters’ death on Jan. 27.
Lambert struck a plea deal with the prosecution in August to avoid more charges in connection with the fatal drug robbery attempt. He pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit robbery.
He also agreed to testify against Tyler, who is accused of killing Peters, if the prosecution calls him to the stand.
Lambert’s sentencing is scheduled for Thursday. Tyler’s trial is scheduled to begin Tuesday.
