A proposal to build up to 300 apartments near the Grafton Shopping Center has been withdrawn.

The application was set to be reviewed by the York County Planning Commission at its June 11 meeting prior to the withdrawal. The proposal will be resubmitted in the future, according to a news release from York County.

Work is already underway to reface the aged shopping center. The proposal called for upscale apartments to compliment upscale retail, restaurants and service-oriented offices. The proposed development will run along George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17) and would be bounded by Wolf Trap Road to the north and Dare Road to the south.

Along with the retail and apartments, the development will contain numerous footpaths and a town hall meeting area in the center.

The applicant is listed in county records as Able Archer LLC. The representative is listed as Dan Rosinski, the principal dealer at Bowditch Ford. He did not return a call for comment.

A potential date for resubmission of the application was not included in the county’s news release.
