Thousands of dollars in electronics and jewelry were stolen in the last week from two trailers at the Country Village Mobile Home Park in the Grove neighborhood of James City County.
Maj. Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department said one of the burglaries occurred between 1 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and the other occurred sometime between Aug. 20 and Thursday. Both burglaries occurred on the 100 block of Domino Drive.
The Tuesday burglary happened when someone broke a window on the back door of a trailer and then unlocked the door. A 50-inch Samsung television, a Toshiba laptop and assorted jewelry was stolen from that trailer. The items taken are worth about $3,000 total. Nobody was home at the time of the burglary.
The other burglary occurred at a different trailer, where someone gained entry by prying open a bathroom window. Assorted jewelry valued at about $4,000 was stolen from the trailer. The jewelry was stored in an area the resident wasn’t checking on a regular basis, so the theft was not noticed until the resident saw the window had been pried open, Rubino said.
Rubino said it’s possible the two incidents are connected. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP (888-562-5887).
