Update 2:05 p.m.: One lane has re-opened. The backup extends four miles.
Original Post: Both lanes on Interstate 64 West are closed at mile marker 239 near the Camp Peary exit after a tractor-trailer went off the road.
Crews on scene need to remove some of the items in the trailer so a tow truck can extract the tractor-trailer. Lauren Hansen, a spokesperson with the Virginia Department of Transportation, said the incident does not involve hazardous materials.
The two travel lanes were shut down at about 1:30 p.m. The backup currently extends past the Busch Gardens exit.
VDOT recommends Route 60 and Route 143 as alternate routes.
