WILLIAMSBURG— The Muscarelle Museum of Art is seeking artists for a juried exhibition it is hosting in November.

The exhibition, co-sponsored by the Muscarelle and the Department of Art & Art History at William & Mary, is open to Virginia residents 18 years or older with the exception of museum employees and William & Mary teaching faculty. The theme is water in the commonwealth.

Registration for the competition can be completed via a free online entry portal. According to the museum, selected works are eligible for prize money valued at $10,000 — $5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second $2,000 for third.

Works can be in any format, including textiles, ceramics, photography, video, painting, drawing and collage — if it is an original work of art by a Virginia artist and if it is based on the theme of “water in Virginia.” Organizers add the theme can be broadly interpreted to include anything from swimming pools to streams, lakes, the ocean or mud puddles, for example.

The entry deadline for the show is Aug. 1 at midnight. The exhibition takes place from Nov. 14 to Feb. 15 at the Mascarelle Museum of Art.
