Devric Hill Named to the Troy University Chancellor’s List
Devric Hill from Hampton has been named to the Chancellor’s List at Troy University for Term 3 of the 2024-25 academic year.
The Chancellor’s List honors full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who earn a grade point average of 4.0.
Term 3 includes students at Troy’s campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Alabama, along with students outside of Alabama and online. Troy University is a public, historic, international university with 22,500 students and 154,000 alumni.
Emerson College Student Isabelle McMahan of Williamsburg Earns Dean’s List Honors for Fall 2024 Semester
Isabelle McMahan of Williamsburg, majoring in Creative Writing BFA and a member of the Emerson College Class of 2026, was named to the Dean’s list for the Fall 2024 semester.
The requirement to make the Dean’s List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.

Gabriella Barfoot Elected to Membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi
Gabriella Barfoot of Seaford was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, which describes itself as the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at James Madison University.
Barfoot is among approximately 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

UAF Names Fall 2024 Honors Students

The University of Alaska Fairbanks has announced the students named to the deans’ and chancellor’s lists for the fall 2024 semester. The lists recognize students’ outstanding academic achievements.
Students receiving a 3.9 grade point average or higher are placed on the chancellor’s list, while those receiving a grade point average of between 3.5 and 3.89 are named to the deans’ list.

JMU Students to Spend Spring Break Serving Others
James Madison University students will participate in eight alternative spring break trips around the country from March 15-22, focused on service in their destination community and on teamwork and reflection within their group.
- Charles Kimbrough of Williamsburg will volunteer at Camp Royall in Moncure, North Carolina.
- Jonathan Marshall of Williamsburg will volunteer at Camp Royall in Moncure, North Carolina.
- Jackson Smith of Williamsburg will volunteer at Project C.U.R.E. in Nashville, Tennessee.
The student-led Alternative Spring Break trips will take place from March 15-22. Each trip focuses on a social issue, such as homelessness, resettlement, environmentalism or community wellness, in a specific region. The 64 participants will participate in eight spring break trips around the country. The students will spend the week living simply, focused on service in their destination community and teamwork and reflection within their group.

Hannah Proctor of Williamsburg Named to Dean’s List at Grove City College

Hannah Proctor, a junior Computer Science major at Grove City College from Williamsburg, has been named to the Dean’s List with Distinction for the fall 2024 semester.
Students eligible for the Dean’s List have a GPA of 3.40 to 3.59; for the Dean’s List with Distinction a GPA of 3.60 to 3.84 and for the Dean’s List with High Distinction a GPA of 3.85 to 4.0.

Samuel Boyer of Williamsburg was named to the College of the Holy Cross Fall 2024 Dean’s List.
A member of the Class of 2026, Boyer was named to the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2024-25 academic year.
To qualify, students must pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Shenandoah University Welcomes 31 New Inductees To Omicron Delta Kappa

Megan Killian, of Yorktown, was one of 31 new inductees welcomed into the Shenandoah University circle of the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society on Sunday, Feb. 9.
ODK recognizes sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students and alumni who excel in leadership and academics. Students selected to Omicron Delta Kappa must meet the honor society’s leadership values of collaboration, inclusivity, integrity, scholarship and service. Additionally, they must be in the top 35% of their class and demonstrate leadership in at least one of the five pillars of campus life: academics and research; athletics; service to campus and community; communications; and creative and performing arts.
To become a member, students can self-nominate or be nominated by a faculty member, staff member or current ODK member. Nominees are then selected for induction through an application process.

Sarah Finch, of Williamsburg, was named to Rhodes College’s Fall 2024 Honor Roll.
To qualify for the Honor Roll, a student must be enrolled in at least 16 credits of academic work and achieve a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better. Those students who choose to take a course under the Pass/Fail option must have a minimum of 12 additional graded credits of work to be considered for this honor. Students who are enrolled in the Honors Program or independent Research and receive a grade of IP for that work will have their qualifying grade point average determined on all other graded work.

Radford University has released its Dean’s List for Fall 2024. Appearing on the Dean’s List is the most prestigious academic recognition RU students can receive for their performance during a semester.
Students will be placed on the Dean’s List if they meet four specific criteria. They must have 12 semester hours of coursework graded A-F; earn GPA’s of at least 3.4 for courses not graded on a pass-fail basis; obtain no grade lower than “C”; and receive no incomplete grades.
