NORFOLK — The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command is responding to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, providing vital assistance to communities impacted by the storm.
“We are here to serve and support during this time of need,” said Maj. Chris Flanagan, Area Commander of the Salvation Army Hampton Roads. “Our mission is to provide hope and assistance to those affected by Hurricane Helene, ensuring that no one faces this disaster alone.”
According to the organization, in the wake of the storm, it has mobilized its disaster response team, deploying trained personnel and resources to the hardest-hit areas, and is working closely with local emergency management agencies to assess needs and provide immediate relief.
These tasks include:
- Food and Water Distribution: Mobile feeding units are serving hot meals and distributing bottled water to individuals and families affected by the hurricane.
- Emotional and Spiritual Care: Trained counselors are available to offer emotional and spiritual support to those struggling with the aftermath of the storm.
The Salvation Army has also called for community support to assist in its relief efforts. Monetary donations can be made through the Salvation Army’s Hurricane Support Efforts Donation Link.
